My head pulses every time I stand up. Not quite healed, yet, but close. So, I pondered my memories of short, simple, snippets of wisdom I have heard in the past. I remember an easy phrase I listened to from a pastor’s sermon (Mark Driscoll’s?), about a year ago, which has helped fortify my understanding of “guarding my heart,” and of setting boundaries where it’s needed. Basically:
The only man/woman I really need to know is my husband/wife.
Short. Sweet. Simple. It speaks of caution. It encourages intentional relationships. It seems to reflect biblical principles, particularly of the uniqueness of marriage, in that it is the most intimate of human relationships (and must remain as such), and is where men and women “know” each other.
Mmm, I like simple, yet profound things.
