    … Scrounging for Euros to get gelato or a cappuccino.
    … Walking through Florence at sunrise and sunset.
    … The size and scale and magnificence of St. Peter’s.
    … Resting in Sant’Ignazio in quiet meditation.
    … Walking into an empty, dimly lit chiesa and being floored for the sacredness of the space.
    … Riding on the vaporetti.
    … Sneaking photographs to preserve a moment or an artwork forever in my memory, as I saw it.
    … Speaking Italian with Italians.
    … Being out and about in Trastevere at midnight.
    … Walking along the Tiber.
    … Crossing the Ponte’Vecchio in Florence.
    … Staying at Pompei Scavi until closing.
    … Getting lost… and then discovering treasures of art, architecture, and archaeology. 
    … Sitting in the Piazza del Duomo in Milan, sipping a cappuccino and watching people as the Duomo towers over them.

    omgsh. this. 

    and the vatican museum, pompeii, the pantheon, the forum, the colosseum, the sistine chapel [a lot of people were sneaking pictures], the countless churches we visited, bernini’s fountain of four rivers [my favorite], the piazza navona [walking around here during twilight was the most magical thing ever], the street artists, triton’s fountain [another favorite], etc etc

    well, except the part about speaking italian. although at the time i could somewhat read latin…

    mmmm gelato. and cappucinos.

    i miss Italy…
